This book is very different and VERY INTENSE!
I’m not recommending Strange Sally Diamond. It’s very dark and disturbing and abusive.
Oh my! This book hits a lot of trigger warnings for those who need to be warned beyond the summary.
Kidnapping, imprisonment, rape, physical/sexual/phycological abuse, suicide, racism, anti-gay bias, ableism.
Another one of those all.the.things as if they were thrown in a basket and all needed to be used.
Kudos to the author for the detailed writing that made me cringe, more than once. You know when they say "did you feel like you were there?" Yes, yes I did.
It did not have a happy ending. Probably a realistic ending, but very sad.
Oh, and it's not just about Strange Sally. Her brother gets equal time and [almost] equal abuse.
