The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany ⭐⭐⭐💫
The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany by Lori Nelson Spielman
Google:
"A trio of second-born daughters set out on a whirlwind journey through the lush Italian countryside to break the family curse that says they'll never find love."
G👀dreads:
Since the day Filomena Fontana cast a curse upon her sister more than two hundred years ago, not one second-born Fontana daughter has found lasting love. Some, like second-born Emilia, the happily-single baker at her grandfather’s Brooklyn deli, claim it’s an odd coincidence. Others, like her sexy, desperate-for-love cousin Lucy, insist it’s a true hex. But both are bewildered when their great-aunt calls with an astounding proposition: If they accompany her to her homeland of Italy, Aunt Poppy vows she’ll meet the love of her life on the steps of the Ravello Cathedral on her eightieth birthday, and break the Fontana Second-Daughter Curse once and for all.
Genre: Historical Fiction, Romance, Italy
Circa: Dual Timeline 1950s and 2020s
I think it was recommended by someone who thought I'd like it since I liked The Sicilian Inheritance and this is the same narrator, who I also enjoyed. It's labeled as historical fiction, romance. I assume that means they are able to break the curse!
I'll give it a try. It's sounds fluffy but with lots of travel through Italy in forecast.
It's a long listen at 13 hours.
⭐⭐⭐💫
The story was meh. Not nearly as good as The Sicilian Inheritance which I liked so much that I bought the hard copy.
It was almost a little juvenile with the 30 year old protagonist acting like a whiny teenager with a controlling grandmother and disapproving sister. I did like Great Aunt Poppy and Emilia's love for her aunt. I enjoyed the Italian setting.
🎧Carlotta Brentan (Emilia), Kathleen Garrett (Poppy), plus parts by the author but it doesn't indicate which ones.
