Turning 50 is supposed to be a milestone, but for Katie Beaumont, it's the beginning of a supernatural adventure that will change her life forever.

Devastated by her husband's infidelity, Katie discovers she possesses powers beyond her wildest dreams. But as she embarks on a journey of explosive self-discovery, a century of ancestral secrets begins to unravel and threatens to upend everything she thought she knew.

Guided by her sassy best friend, a talking dog, and a ball-busting lawyer, Katie embraces her new life. But she soon realizes that her magical abilities come with a price and enemies who will stop at nothing to claim them.

Filled with hilarious revenge, outrageous female empowerment, and the comfort of family, this small-town paranormal women's fiction series will leave you breathless and prove there is a lot of life to live after 50.

Genre: Fiction, Fantasy, Paranormal

The ad for this keeps scrolling by on FB so here we are. I tagged it on Hoopla a few months ago and when I saw it scroll by this morning I decided to queue it up.
It has good reviews in G👀dreads 4.26 and about the same on Hoopla. Not that those always align with my reviews! I highly doubt it will leave me breathless but I'll give it a go.

One FB review said "This was a cute book with a few giggles and laugh out loud moments. It’s silly and a little unraveled, but totally entertaining."
I'm in the mood to be entertained! I'll let you know if it's worth the hype.

Day 1 - 35% of the way in. I like it. It's entertaining. Her bestie is the master of revenge ideas. No discovery of magical powers yet.
Talking dog - Arlo, the talking rescue dog is different than the two I loved (still love) from previous books. Both 6:30 (Lessons in Chemistry) and Frank (Confessions of a Grammar Queen), the talking was only in the dog's heads. Arlo in this book talks out loud. So far only one time but I imagine he will be more verbal going forward as she discovers her powers.

Overall Enjoyment 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Did it grab and keep my attention? 🎣🎣🎣🎣

Would I recommend it to anyone? 🗣️ 🤷 Only if you enjoy elements of magical powers, which actually didn't come into play until at least the half way point.

Would I want a sequel 🕮 Yes ➕ I will add the sequel to my TBR but not jumping on it right away. Book 2 is Flash Mob.

Would I want to read more books by this author 📚  Yes ➕

Trigger Warnings 💣💥I didn't think so

Spice 🌶 No but some sex talk

Plot twist 🌪 No

Tidbits 💻 As predicted it didn't leave me breathless but it was entertaining.
It took a long time for her to discover what her power is. Like probably three quarters of the way through the book.
My favorite characters were Frankie her sassy BFF, and Yuli her Grandmother.
The dog - meh. He doesn't get a seat at my table with 6:30 and Frank.

Book 2 Flash Mob actually has a higher rating on GR at 4.53. Hawt Flash has 4.26.  Not much higher but a smidge.  I'm guessing because her divorce is over and she knows her powers so now that that is out of they way, she can get on with the story.
