A Not So Meet Cute ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫

A Not So Meet Cute by Meghan Quinn

G👀dreads

"How did you two meet?" It's the quintessential question asked to every couple, and the answer is usually some bubbly, lovey-dovey tale of being struck in the bum by Cupid's arrow. But Lottie Gardner's meet-cute was a little different. She was trolling a wealthy neighborhood in Beverly Hills, searching for someone to take her as his bride―you know, to make the arch nemesis who just fired her jealous. And billionaire Huxley Cane was conveniently stomping around the block like some sort of gorgeous ogre, mumbling about a business deal gone wrong. That's when they bump into each other. No sparks. No fireworks. Not even the first seed of blossoming love. But the next thing Lottie knows, she's scarfing down chips and guac, listening to Huxley lay out his problems, and then he tells He lied to a crucial client, and he needs a huge favor. A fake fiancée. He's talking living in his mansion together, going on intimate double-dates, and pretending they're head-over-heels in love…and engaged. It's ridiculous, but people do ridiculous things when they're desperate. And Lottie and Huxley both reek of desperation. So, she strikes up the deal. Except her one mistake might be accidentally falling for the incomparable, insufferable Huxley Cane.

Day 1: I don't usually listen to two books at a time but...
I decided I needed something that sounds like fun to both end the year and start the next.

I'm currently also listening to Remarkable Creatures for my book club's BotM. Not my favorite and didn't want to end the year on a blah book note.

Day 2: Holy wow. I thought this would be a cozy pallet cleanser with Hallmark movie vibes. NOT AT ALL. It has no business being this captivating! And it's spicy on steroids.

⭐⭐⭐⭐💫

🎉 Overall Enjoyment?🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

🎣 Did it grab and keep my attention? 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣

🗣️Would I recommend it to anyone? Maybe 🤷 Only if you like super spicy reads. The story on it's own would have been interesting without the spice though.

🕮 Would I want a sequel? Maybe 🤷 This was Book 1 in the Cane Brothers Series. He has two billionaire brothers so I imagine each one is featured in the series.

📚 Would I want to read more books by this author?  Maybe 🤷Probably will continue with the series at some point, but it's not on the top of my TBR list.

💣💥 📢 Triᵷᵷer Warnings? Google has a gaggle but I didn't find anything offensive.

🌶 Spice? YES! This is super spicy. 🌶🌶🌶🌶

🌪 Plot Twist? No

👟 Pace? Good

💻 Tidbits ~ I enjoyed their meet cute and fake dating story more than I expected.

I deducted half star because I thought Lottie was unnecessarily mean to him at times. Even bratty. She agreed to the deal. He did everything he said he would according to the agreement, as her sister kept pointing out and reminding her of far too often. Yes he was curmudgeonly but it wasn't hard to see that was a shield he armored himself with. It wasn't until she discovered that he had a kind heart behind the scenes that she lightened up.

🎧Ava Erickson, Aaron Shedlock
Lottie is supposed to be pushing 30 but Ava's voice sounds like a squeaky 12 year old. That was a little off-putting in the beginning especially with their sɇxuɐl banter.
