Overall Enjoyment 🎉🎉🎉
I had to give a full ⭐and 🎉deduction for the narrator. She was too one dimensional with no voice inflections bringing the story to life. All the characters sounded the same. Just say 👎to Senn Annis. SorryNotSorry.
Did it grab and keep my attention? 🎣🎣🎣🎏
Would I recommend it to anyone? 🤷 If you are into Urban Fantasy and understand that things don't have to make sense. Such as when evil appears in a different form and you are trapped and about to die... and all of a sudden you have a power to remove it and recover your injuries that you didn't know you had. This is what I *don't* enjoy about fantasy. I like my ducks in a row! I like to know my powers in advance!
Would I want a sequel 🕮 No ➖ I won't listen to Book 2, The Tangle of Obsidian. If I had any desire to find out what kind of trouble she gets in and out of next, it was knocked out because it's the same narrator. I don't have enough desire to find out by reading the book instead. Cuz you know me and reading 📚.🐌
I think a spin off of the detective might be enjoyable though. I liked her. Obviously it would need to be read by someone else.
Would I want to read more books by this author 📚 🤷 Maybe. The writing wasn't bad it just wasn't my favorite cup of soup from the caldron.
Trigger Warnings 💣💥Only if you are offended by the overuse of F-Bombs.
Spice 🌶 None
Plot twist 🌪 None. Unless you consider finding out several nuns are "in" on the sisterhood. I don't consider that a plot twist as a reader since the book indicates "The Obsidian Sisterhood". It was a plot twist for the protagonist though. She had no idea and was flabbergasted.
Tidbits: I like a bad ass sassy swearing older lady capable of taking care of herself and others. However, the author never explained WHY the stone choose her, instead of someone else in the sisterhood.
🎧Senn Annis 👎
