It sounded interesting enough. Separated from his wife (her decision) and facing divorce; recently retired police department murder investigator receives a retirement gift from his co-workers. A two week writing course in Tuscany. He wants to write a Renaissance book, however the fine print for the course says erratica! He's going to back out but his daughter convinces him to go, at least he gets a free vacay. Of course there is a murder, thus the title, and of course he gets pulled into the investigation. Ya, it's a little cozy, but I'm half way through and it's entertaining enough to finish it. His take on erratica is humorous.
First point off was for the protagonist. He was a know-it-all who reminded me a lot of someone I used to know. I had figured out who-done-it early on, just not the motive. Funny because he pointed to motive on several others. A clear clue that it wasn't them.
Second point off was the downplay of crimes the victim had committed was also a turnoff.
Kudos for painting a beautiful picture of Tuscany. The Villa, the grounds, the countryside, the food, the region. 👍👍
Kudos for the execution of the actual murder weapon. 👍
Just for grins I went back to the rating system I posted in my last entry where the woman rates on five categories, with zero to one star in each category. I came up with 3.25 based on her system. Close enough.
