A Limited Run ⭐⭐⭐

A Limited Run by Karen McQuestion

Two million dollars each? It seems too good to be true.

Meri Wetzel's acting role on the TV show A Little Slice of Haven is an experience she'd love to forget. But when billionaire Felix Worthington invites the five cast members to recreate their roles twenty-five years later, she's intrigued. It's an unusual request, even for a self-professed superfan like Felix.

Living in a recreated version of the 1940s town in a warehouse in Montana has its appeal, even knowing she'll be filmed with hidden cameras as the cast improvises with other actors playing the townspeople. And the clincher? The promised two million dollars, on the condition they all stay ten days and remain in character the entire time.

One by one, they set their hesitations aside and agree to the terms. But as Meri and her costars slot into their roles, they begin to realize things are not as they seem.

Genre: Fiction, Mystery, Thriller, Suspense

The How/Why: My TBR list is long so I don't always remember how a book got there. This one is because of the Author. She wrote A Switch Before Christmas which was one of my two five star reviews when I was on a Christmas story binge in December. This one sounds like an interesting concept and way outside the box. I'm curious as to how well she writes mystery/triller.

🎉 Overall Enjoyment? 🎉🎉🎉

🎣 Did it grab and keep my attention? 🎣🎣🎣

🗣️Would I recommend it to anyone? No

 🕮 Would I want a sequel? No

📚 Would I want to read more books by this author?  Maybe 🤷 she's 50-50 with me now.  I loved A Switch Before Christmas but this one was meh.

💣💥 📢 Triᵷᵷer Warnings? Google says Emotional and Psychological Manipulations aka gaslighting. I think you would get that from the About.

🌶 Spice? No

🌪 Plot Twist? Yes, but no OMG or gasp worthy moments

👟 Pace? Started out good, slowed down, speed up at the end

💻 Tidbits ~ I had high hopes for this one. Such an interesting premise. I liked the beginning. Getting the former stars of the show on board, not without some resistance. Arriving at the warehouse and being in awe of the recreation of the set. This was not a reunion show updating fans on where they are now. This was a reenactment of the characters as they were 25 years ago. Adults slipping back into their roles of the 40's down to details of their hair, clothes, shoes, meals, etc. They were provided a limited script and then they had to improv. So far, so good. But then...some of them reenacting their roles as children. 🙄< :eyeroll: That didn't click very well with me. Yes, lessons were learned. The big reveal at the end was no surprise.
Very disappointed because A Switch Before Christmas by this author was my favorite Christmas book last year.
